Welcome
to Chaos, the fun kind
Welcome to my life. I have all the chaos you don't need. And maybe even some you understand. Let's explore together.
About Me.
Hey there! So, just to start off, I wanna say that I'm not some fancy writer or anything. My college English teacher would totally back me up on that if he was around. I just enjoy putting my thoughts down on paper, you know? I basically write about whatever random stuff comes to mind. To be real with you, I don't really have a grand plan or anything.
So, everything I write is just me sharing my thoughts and how I handle this crazy thing called life. As I write this I'm bouncing one child on my knee, letting the dog lick my leg, and telling my 4 yr old not to run through the house naked.
But moving on, this is where I talk about me. My origin story. Originally hailing from Tennessee (big shout out to my fellow Tennesseans), I pursued my college education in Indiana where I swiftly recognized the necessity of structure in my life. Being away from my parents seemed like a great idea when I was sending my college applications out. Time to actually move and live far away from Mommy and Daddy, not so much. This realization led me to enlist in the military, a choice I confidently assert as the best decision I have ever made.
Since then, I've been blessed with two amazing girls! Can you believe it? I used to wish for a boy when I had my first child, but now I can't imagine it any other way - being a girl mom is the best! And hey, did you know the chances of having 6 girls are only 1.56%? Let's see what the future holds! 🌟It's absolutely hilarious every time I mention my desire for six kids! The reactions I get, with those wide-eyed "what's wrong with you" looks, never fail to crack me up!I can't help it though. I really enjoy being a mom.
Let me tell you something everyone knows - self-care is absolutely crucial! It's a challenge for every mom out there, and hey, every parent, regardless of gender, can relate to the struggle of carving out time for themselves. Just when you're about to complete that crochet project you've been working on, and you're this close to finishing it, someone wakes up from their nap and needs your immediate attention.
But hey, keep going, you're doing amazing!Hey, if you ever feel like you're not crushing it, or you think you could kick it up a notch, just know I've got your back. I'm all about sharing my life with you, hoping it might lift your spirits or spark some brilliance in you!So while you're expecting inspiration you can also find me sharing some of my activities. Which honestly just means whatever I'm interested in at the moment. Could be crocheting, knitting, painting, "clutter-busting" (Thank you Brooks Palmer). It's honestly chaos all the time.
Journaling My Life as a Mom with ADHD
As I sit down at my cluttered desk, surrounded by half-finished to-do lists and a calendar that barely contains the chaos of our family's schedule, I find solace in one thing - my journal. Hi there, casual readers! Welcome to my corner of the internet where I share the unfiltered truth about navigating motherhood with ADHD.
A Day in the Life
Each morning starts with good intentions and a mountain of tasks waiting for me. From getting the kids ready for school to remembering doctor’s appointments and sorting out the never-ending laundry pile, my days are a whirlwind of activity. But amidst the chaos, my journal becomes a beacon of clarity. It's where I pour out my thoughts, fears, and small victories that often go unnoticed in the hectic pace of life.
Finding Order in Disorder
Being a mom with ADHD means dealing with constant distractions, forgetfulness, and the struggle to maintain focus. While some days feel like a juggling act gone wrong, my journal serves as an anchor that keeps me grounded. I jot down ideas, scribble down important reminders, and reflect on the highs and lows of each day. It’s a safe space where I can embrace the messiness of life without judgment.
Moments of Reflection
In the quiet moments when the kids are finally in bed and the house is still, I turn to my journal to reflect on the day's events. Did I lose my temper more than I intended? Did I remember to pack snacks for the school trip? These small moments of introspection allow me to learn from my experiences, grow as a parent, and find ways to navigate the challenges of ADHD with grace.
Celebrating Small Wins
As a mom with ADHD, it's easy to get caught up in a cycle of self-doubt and guilt. But my journal reminds me to celebrate the small wins – whether it’s managing to finish a project or simply making it through a hectic day without forgetting something important. By acknowledging these victories, I shift my focus from perceived failures to moments of resilience and strength.
Embracing Imperfection
No one is perfect. One of the most valuable lessons I've learned on this chaotic journey is the beauty of imperfection. Motherhood, with or without ADHD, is a messy, unpredictable ride. Through my journal, I’ve come to embrace the imperfections, the missed deadlines, the forgotten school events, as part of my unique story. It's in these moments of vulnerability that I find strength and resilience I never knew I had.
